Sure, many indie artists toil tirelessly for their talents. Few, however,do it at the scope of the Oslo, Norway-based singer-songwriter,producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
In a world of noise and chaos, Tuvaband offers a place to drift. With her fifth album, Seven Ways of Floating, set for release on October 24th, Norwegian singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser once again invites listeners into a dreamlike soundscape of rich textures, haunting melodies, and poetic introspection.
Kicking things off with the album’s title track, Seven Ways of Floating continues her tradition of deeply personal yet universally resonant music. The song sets the stage with ethereal ambience, lo-fi beats, and Tuva’s airy vocals drifting above impressionistic lyrics. Speaking about the song, Tuva explains, “I’ve always liked the idea of starting fresh. It makes it possible to mentally close an old chapter and open a blank canvas for whatever needs to come next. ‘Seven Ways of Floating’ is about that moment of transition—uncertain, yet liberating.”
The launch of Seven Ways of Floating will be accompanied by a 2026 tour, taking Tuvaband across Germany, Norway, and London, with potential expansion into the U.S. and China. With a growing international presence, Tuvaband’s music has resonated with critics and fans alike. Pitchfork praised her voice as "the most captivating and commanding instrument" in her arsenal. Earmilk described her sound as "delicate yet soaring, vulnerable and powerful at once." Meanwhile, Wonderland noted how her music leaves "a haunting and hypnotic memory." Her previous releases have been featured in Under the Radar, Notion, Berliner Zeitung, Rolling Stone Germany, Musikexpress, and more.
Since her debut, Tuvaband has carved a singular artistic path. Over the past seven years, she has released four critically acclaimed albums, two EPs, a collaborative project with experimental supergroup New Age Doom as well as remix by Lee “Scratch” Perry. Her boundary-pushing creativity has earned her two Norwegian Grammy nominations, extensive international press coverage, and over 40 million cumulative streams on Spotify. But what sets Tuvaband apart isn’t just her prolific output—it’s the breadth of her artistry. Writing, producing, mixing, and playing almost all instruments herself, Tuva is the architect of every world she creates.
With a sound that continues to evolve yet remains unmistakably hers, Tuvaband is not just floating, she is soaring.
